Our research is based on homogeneous single crystalline metals in which the charge carriers simultaneously behave as n-type and p-type depending on the direction of the current relative to the different crystalline directions. This material was coined 'goniopolar' material.
Our mission is to create and test research-grade microwave electronic devices. These nonreciprocal devices are significant components in telecommunications, antennas and quantum computers.
Our work challenges the fundamental paradigm of semiconductor based electronic devices and the current understanding of charge carriers and either electrons or holes and lays groundwork for a new class of energy harvesting and switching technologies from metals.
